Motion data from snowboarders was collected in the field using an accelerometer, GPS and custom mobile device software.
Later, the field data was analyzed using custom desktop software. The results of analyzing the field data showed how a snowboard rider's ability level can be derived from their motion characteristics.
Material prototypes were then developed to show how a riders the riders ability level could be displayed on the snowboard. Alternative display mechanisms such as gloves and mobile device software were also researched.
